Not out of line at all. I appreciate that you care about the future of this place. Thanks.

Let me give you a better idea of how things are going. As you recall in a previous post the place is getting the new name "ShareGuild". The idea being to better encompass what we're about (sharing creations, games, etc). There is some very nice new backend database software running things and the issue is how well that will import old users/posts from the current Guild.

The new place's main thrust remains the same. A place to present your creations, play role playing games, discuss things that interest us, and make friends, but it allows for a vast amount of new freedom in these endeavors. I have attempted to streamline and simplify the look and function of the Guild overall so it will appeal to more people. Some of the old Guild's staples are being removed to focus on the important stuff. This also includes the look. Although I enjoy the medieval aesthetic, it probably isn't an accurate representation of what we're all about. Remember it started as an Oblivion fan site. Those days are in the past.

Which means even if I do import the old content, some of it will be pruned. If people are forced to re-register, you will not be just newbs again. Firstly you'd be the initial users; the betatesters. You'd have a chance to bump up your status. Secondly I will find a way to make sure those of you who migrate from here are kept in high esteem on the new Guild. As explained before the new system uses a reputation system. I could set that initially based on your activity on the old Guild etc etc.

All feedback is welcome.

I thought it was being broken down into four different sites, with the Rangers Guild being the central hub? Or has that idea changed?

We're undecided on that yet. Having multiple websites tied together may be more than a little confusing. It depends on which method (multiple sites or one site) allows us to best organize and structure the content to be as user-friendly as possible.

All this change is a bit overwhelming for me. And while I understand that your goal is to expand the community so it can encompass a broader range of people, I will be sad to see the Medieval look go, and most especiallyto see the name change.

I enjoyed the whole aspect of the Guild being a hobby site, although I can see how this would make it difficult to expand. I guess it just seems a bit too...FaceBooki-sh for me. Once again Secret and Cryo, there is no disrespect intended here, and I am not trying to challenge your decisions for the future of the guild. I'm just giving my honest feelings.

Sheesh there has been a lot of thought put into this Grin

In my opinion, the people make the guild. Even if all of my posts are lost, I will be no less content. As long as mah buddies hang around, I'm happy.

Well said Rahl, the community makes up the guild, not the site itself. Although the Guild will most likely look different, it will probably feel the same. The Guild has already expanded to many different subjects and topics, now this change is becoming more "official".

Unfortunately, I am not to crazy about losing all the posts that have been made. Especially in the Role Playing Forum. As for the accounts, I really do not mind. I know I have not been here as an active member as long as others, so I really have no right to judge others feelings on the new accounts. (If we even need to Re-register that is.)

Cryo, what exactly do you mean by "the old guilds staples being removed"?

The guild look, the name etc. are what the staples are.

While the people may make up the guild, I feel that (though I could be wrong) it will be shifting more from a forum and more to a FaceBook type networking site, and the change of the look and name (while they play a minor part in such) are steps into the more (for want of a better word) "mainstream" direction.

But since I have not seen the update yet I can't truly judge. Let's just say I am a little uneasy. I guess you could call me one of those pesky "status quo" people. Again, I must stress that absolutely no disrespect is intended in these posts.

I'm not going anywhere, bud.

At least not anywhere less active than I have been recently.

Hm. I must say that I've come to love the set-up of the guild..and as Bost has stated...it seems like a -massive- change will occur. This may be helpful for those who join after the update...but disappointing for pre-update members. That's my two cents, at least.
